FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What proficiency levels do you teach?
I teach all proficiency levels, from total beginners who never learned any Czech (A0 on the EU scale) to advanced students (B2).
Do you offer in-person (offline) lessons?
I don’t. My lessons are online only.
What do I need to take our lessons?
You will need a PC or laptop, a stable Internet connection, and somewhere you can concentrate without distractions. You’ll also need motivation to study and a positive attitude. The same goes for me.
Do you teach kids?
I specialize in teaching adults and teenagers. I don’t do kids’ courses right now, though I might in the future.
Do you use textbooks?
I like the order and predictability that textbooks bring to a lesson. I also like to prepare my own materials using various online tools, which I’ll be delighted to share with you.
Can I reschedule or cancel?
Sometimes, something comes up and you or I need to cancel our planned lesson. That’s pretty normal.
If you cancel more than 24 hours before the lesson was to begin, it’s no problem. We’ll reschedule to another time. If, on the other hand, you cancel less than 24 hours before the lesson is supposed to start, I will charge you its full price. If I cancel more than 24 hours in advance, we’ll reschedule. If I cancel less than 24 hours in advance, I won’t charge you for the canceled lesson.
Do you teach on weekends?
Not regular lessons. I do sometimes offer one-time events or courses on weekends.
What’s the lesson like?
We start each lesson with a bit of small talk, then we move on to the contents of your last e-lesson. We’ll go over any problems you may have encountered. Next we converse on a set topic, roleplay everyday conversations, ask each other questions. At the end of the lesson, I’ll provide feedback and recommend resources for further learning. I make notes in a shared Google Doc throughout the lesson. After the lesson, I upload my notes to you via Google Classroom and new vocabulary via Quizlet. I will also set your homework in Google Classroom.
What language do you teach in?
I teach exclusively in Czech, without an intermediary language. If you’re not catching on, don’t be afraid to say so. I’ll try again once or twice in Czech, and if you’re still not getting it, I’ll switch to English or German for a bit.
